The Purpose
The patio had gone dark and slippery, especially in the corner along the cedar hedge where it hardly gets any sun. The homeowners wanted it clean and safe to walk on before they started using the backyard for the summer.
The Challenge
Shaded patios next to hedges stay damp and grow moss fast. Too much pressure would blast the sand out of the joints and leave marks on the stone, so each area needed the right nozzle and pressure.
How we did it
The Steps We Took to Get It Right
- Pre-Treatment
Applied a cleaner to loosen moss, algae and ground-in dirt before washing.
- Controlled Pressure
Used a surface cleaner and adjusted the pressure to clean evenly without etching the stone.
- Joint Re-Sanding
Swept fresh sand back into the joints once the patio had dried.
- Final Rinse
Rinsed the hedge base, garden beds and nearby walls so nothing was left behind.
