The Purpose
The old entrance in front of the double doors was uneven and had started to sink. The owners wanted a wide, solid landing that suited the light brick of the house and made the entrance feel more welcoming.
The Challenge
The landing had to sit at the right height under the door threshold and still slope slightly so rain drains away from the house. Space to work at the front door was also tight.
How we did it
The Steps We Took to Get It Right
- Full Excavation
Removed the old surface and dug down to build a new compacted base.
- Precise Grading
Set the landing just below the door and pitched it away from the foundation.
- Border Inlay
Light pavers framed with a dark border to match the house and the steps.
- Finishing
Edge restraints, polymeric sand and a full clean-up once the work was done.
